1) During this shot we edited it so that it was slow motion to show the character Eden falling over in a funny
light which portrays the
genre film is comedy. We achieved this by changing the speed of the shot. We
halved the speed so
that the video is played slower. We then evaluated the video to check that it
was the correct speed
and slightly changed it to make it faster or slower. We did this twice in the
trailer.
2) Our group decided to
introduce the characters within the shots they appear in. we achieved this by placing the text over the clip so that both shots were played at the same time. We experimented with the placing of the text, to analyse where the text would stand out. Following this we changed the colour and font of the text to make it bolder and more noticeable, we used red as it links with our other promotional products.
Within this section of the trailer we used fast pace shots showing the characters reading the poem. As we wanted the audience to understand they two protagonists were reading the poem at the same time. While filming the poem we got the actors to pause in between each line so it would be easier for us to make these sharp cuts.
1) Instead of using a typical fade placed on this shot we decided to use an effect transition which we believe shows the
change of time, it also adds a surreal effect to educate the audience of the fantasy narrative.
2) For these two clips our group wanted to clearly state the storyline of the film for our audience so we created voiceovers of what the characters are thinking. This showed that the characters had swapped bodies as we used dialogue such as 'This isn't my room' and 'Why is my hair so long?'
If I was to create these voiceovers again, I would film in a tightly spaced room, so their is no echo effect, or use the voiceover tool on garage band, this would make the voiceovers sound more realistic and professional.
3) We created a split screen within our trailer to showcase the reaction of both characters, this adds to the comedy effect and the spilt screens also show the difference in character. We created this
by placing both shots
above each other on the time line. After we then cropped the image so that it only
showed the part of the
image we wanted. we then positioned the image so that it was on the correct side
of the shot. we achieved this by repeating the process placing image two in the black section next to image one. If I was to use a split screen again I would make sure the characters were in the same positioning and proxemics. I believe the split screen was conducted well but if we thought about the positioning more it would have looked more professional.
This
is a print screen of the end sequence of our trailer, including a range of shots showing the
characters and text introducing the actresses. We inserted fades in between the cuts because while analysing the end sequence we believed the cuts were to harsh and looked unprofessional.
While Discussing the title of our film, our group decided to use the same process from the other text clips as we wanted our title to link with the rest of our trailer. We begun this process by cutting out individual letters of 'Mix up' but instead of using the same text we have used throughout the trailer, we decided to use the font from our magazine and poster, as then all of our promotional package has linked. We took a variety of pictures as we moved the text around to create the right spelling of 'Mix up.' This reinforces our narrative of the film due to the words being jumbled up but then put back together again. We also changed the background of our movie title as we wanted it to stand out from our other titles, we decided to use a piece of lined paper, as it links with our location from the movie. This also made the font stand out more as the mustard contrasted the background.
We added the billing board at the end of our trailer, as this is a typical convention of all movie trailers. We inserted information such as the production company and a website, as during our research of modern trailers this is also another strong convention.
At first our trailer exceeded the duration of two minutes, while researching back into movie trailers we discovered that trailers are typically around the two minute marking. Discovering this our group watched our trailer again and decided to take a section of it out. I suggested that we remove the part, where the two girls met and blamed each other for what had happened to them. As I argued that this sequence was messy, did not fit in with the rest of the trailer, was boring and the lighting was to dark for a comedy trailer. Our group now all believe this was a positive removal as now our trailer runs smoothly and fits the conventions more effectively.
